RS domain F.A.Q.

1. What is a domain?

Internet domain is a text label that identifies a set of device or Internet service, connecting them into a single administrative and technical unit.

2. I don't have a website yet, why should I register a rs domain now?

Registering your domain name now ensures your ownership of the domain name that may not otherwise be available when you want it. Once registered, that domain name is yours (provided that the registration and renewal fees are paid each year). You can hold onto it, use it, sell it or lease it.

3. How can I find out if the domain name I want is still available?

NiNet provides a domain name search engine that can instantly tell you whether or not the name is available. If a domain name is available, you will be given the option to register it.

4. What is WHOIS?

WHOIS is an Internet database that contains information on domain names including the name servers associated with the domain name, the domain registrar and the Administrative, Billing and Technical contacts with postal and email addresses. It is generally used to check either the availability of a domain name or the ownership of a domain name.

5. What are DNS servers?

DNS (
Domain Name Server), represents a computer, which is charged with the task of translating domain names into IP adresses. Thanks to the DNS service we can type access websites by only typing their alpha-numeric names (domain names) in the browser instead of their IP addresses, which are the real server-side names of the website.
Every time a new rs domain is registered, a DNS server must be configured to give out address information for that rs domain, so that users can actually find websites in that domain.

6. What type of domain names can I register at NiNet?

You can register at NiNet following domains: .rs .co.rs .org.rs edu.rs .in.rs

7. What characters are allowed in a domain name?

Regardless of the extension, all domain names must follow the same character rules... You can use letters (abc), numbers (123) and dashes/hyphens (---). Spaces are not allowed and the domain can not begin or end with a dash.

8. How much does it cost to register a domain name?

The prices of domains at NiNet are listed below:

domain suffixprice
.rs35 €intended for all interested users
.co.rs12 €intended for business user
.org.rs12 €intended for all other registered organizations
.edu.rs12 €intended for educational institutions and organizations
.in.rs7 €intended for citizens of Serbia

9. Can I pay by means other than a credit card?

Yes. You can also make the payment through wire transfer, but please be aware that it may take couple of days for the money to reach our account.

10. Once my rs domain is registered, can anyone else take it?

Your rs domain is registered in your name. So long as it has active DNS entries, all the required fees are paid and it's not in breach of any law, nobody else can either use it or take it without your consent.

RS Domains, the registration procedure

At the beginning of the registration process you should select a payment method, where you can choose between paying online by Credit Card (PayPal) and paying by Regular Bank Transfer.

The next step of the registration process of your rs domain is to make sure that the domain name you want is available. You can do this by using our WHOIS application.

http://www.

After you check availability of your rs domain , you can register it by filling out required fields in the form below.

Length of registration: Here you have offered answers from 1-10 years, so you can choose the number of domain years you want.

WHOIS information: This is the basic information returned by a whois query on a domain name. It contains the ownership and contact information, the registration and expiration dates, and the DNS servers for the domain. This is the information you are creating when you register your domain. If you want to keep your contact information private, you should include the option Privacy Protection.

Privacy Protection: Protection of contact details (whois protection, whois privacy) is a service which disables availability of contact details on the publicly available whois base. That practically means that your contact details, such as your name and surname (for persons) and business name, location and personal ID number (for businesses) will not be publicly available.

Domain lock: The locked status of the rs domain is one of the safeguards against unauthorized domain transfers and it protects your rights as a domain owner. However, you need to change the status from Locked to Active if you would like to initiate a domain name transfer.

Primary and secondary DNS - There are two basic types of DNS - primary DNS and secondary DNS, which are generally applied to each newly registered rs domain. They are name server computers where the record of your rs domain name is stored. The information on both servers is identical. The two DNS values are usually configured by your ISP provider and given to you as a very important part of your rs domain registration order details. The important thing is that if you do not have your own DNS servers you should fill in required fields with our DNS servers and adequate IP addresses:
-"ns1.ninet.rs", IP address: 212.200.45.11
-"ns2.ninet.rs", IP address: 212.200.45.10

The next step of the registration process your rs domain is to fill out the appropriate fields with your personal information: name and surname, address, city, state, phone and valid e-mail address if you are a physical person. You should also fill out field "company name" if you are a legal entity.

The final step of the rs domain registration is to proceed with 2CO. After that, you will be transferred to highly secure online payment system provided by 2Checkout where you can do the payment for your rs domain. When the payment is done , your domain will be registered after 24 hours.
